NORTHERN WATERS YOUTH GROUP PROGRAMS
The Umbagog Lake Wilderness area offers more remote trips and a wealth of
adventure and wildlife viewing. The Umbagog Lake Region is a high quality
environment, mostly protected by the Federal Wildlife Refuge and State of Maine and
New Hamphire land ownership. It is a great area to introduce your youth group
to a wilderness setting while still having good access for safety concerns.
Northern Waters offers: Quality canoeing and kayaking equipment; Detailed trip
planning and coordination; Maintains it's own campsites, which is important as all camping
in the area is designated; Transportation options including boat support.
Northern Waters offers whitewater canoeing and kayaking classes. We can offer
instruction to group leaders or to groupslearn the basics
of whitewater canoeing and kayaking. Northern Waters School rates are less 10%
for prearranged 1 or 2 dayclinics, not on weekends.
For our midweek whitewater camp a minimum of 4 students to fill the clinic, no more than 6 per session (Kayak) or
8 per session (Canoe). Multiple sessions will be required to service more than
6 or 8 students. This is a 4 or 5 day white water kayak or canoe instruction
clinic. It's a fun week of whitewater with experienced guides that will make sure each
individual is challenged to learn and improve in a safe and comfortable setting. We
are a full service outfitter with 30 years of experience instructing both whitewater and kayak
lessons. This all happens at our base located on the Androscoggin River in Errol, NH.
The Rapid in Errol is an excellent stretch of teaching river, offering continuous
flows of whitewater all summer long.
Your camp/group will provide transportation arrangements to drop off & pick up your group.
Our instructors & staff will be responsible for the group during instructional times
(3 hrs in the am & 3 hrs in the pm). We will provide all necessary equipment & transportation
needed during each day of class. Your camp/group will need to provide 2 adult counselors/chaperones
to supervise the group during non-instructional times, as well as camping equipment, food and
drinking water. Our beautiful campground is located on the banks of the Androscoggin River,
& groups can use these facilities for tent camping. The facilities are rustic but include:
picnic tables, fire rings, outhouses, and enclosed outdoor shower w/heated water, and a rec
hall that has a TV and VCR equipped with many paddling videos.
PRICE:
4 day clinic & camping = $320.00 per student
5 day clinic & camping = $400.00 per student
DAY YOUTH CAMP RAFTING
For Children 8 (60 lbs minimum) and older a 4 hour day camp will be held using rafts and
rubber kayaks (Duckies) on the Errol Rapid Class II and III at our Errol base. This will be an
informative and educational whitewater introduction where principles of whitewater will be taught.
