Saco Bound
offers complete canoe rental programs, which include the highest quality
canoes, touring kayaks and accessories. Excellent maps are available .
Our staff has years of experience in river sports and they're always happy
to offer tips and advice.
Private Access No-fee parking and private take-outs.
One of the most convenient features of Saco Bound is that once you arrive to rent a canoe,
you are at our private, well staffed base located on the Saco River. Put-in with free parking
and no shuttles necessary to the river. You also get to use our private take-outs, which are run
strictly for the convenience of our customer. Private campsites are also available. Saco Bound
operates 6 private riverfront Saco River facilities for our customer's maximum canoe rental
convenience.
Day Trips
The Saco River is great for short canoe rental excursions that include sunning,
swimming and picnicking. A full day trip is 11 miles to our own 30 acre wilderness campsite,
the Landing. Plan on leaving Saco Bound before 10 AM. For a shorter 7 mile, 4 hour trip to our
Landing above Swan's Falls, plan to leave before 1:00PM. Shorter trips are available.
New-Touring kayaks.
The latest in river travel is touring kayaks, Saco Bound now has for rent the
Old Town Egret, a nifty river kayak with waterproof storage. Great for single paddlers.
Family Outings: Experience and Convenience.
Saco Bound specializes in family Saco River canoeing trips, offering maximum convenience
and prides itself on its safety record and twenty years plus of experience on the Saco. Day trips:
Saco Bound to the Pig Farm is exceptional for families as the length is moderate, 7 miles, with
calm water, wide open, non-obstructed river course with many beaches for swimming and picnicking.
We provide children's sized life jackets.
Overnight Trips.
The Saco River is famous for canoe camping. Miles of beaches make for natural campsites. Trips that leave from our riverside put in Center Conway, NH usually bring you to Lovewell Pond (22 miles). 3 to 4 day trips take you to Hiram Maine.
Saco Bound Landing Base at Canal Bridge
Our wilderness campsite facility, 11 miles downstream from our headquarters, has picnic table, fire rings, toilets and evening supervision for those preferring not to camp on the river. Setting camp at the Landing before your departure allows you to paddle without carrying camping gear. The take out for this trip is usually Lovewell Pond.
Canoe rentals and transportation are available from the Landing.
This is a great spot to start a trip, making a less crowded stretch of Saco River available. A trip starting at the Landing can finish at Lovewell's Pond and you can canoe at your leisure. Brownfield trips are also available.
Fiddlehead Campsites
Fiddlehead Wilderness campsites. On the site of the Buzzell Farm,
including the Buzzell Beach area, is the newly organized Fiddlehead
campsite. Although the setting is still natural there are privies,
firerings and picnic tables available at each site.
